ECDL Romania hosted the study visit of an international delegation of participants from the OECD Global Forum, who had the opportunity to see how we utilize cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, 3D printing, or robotics within our developed programs. Discussions focused on the importance of qualitative standards for efficient digitization.
The Global Forum included in its agenda for participants from OECD member states the knowledge of experiences from Romania in the thematic domain of the meeting. In this context, ECDL Romania's experience was considered relevant due to its innovative approaches and identification of good practices in digital education, integrating current technologies such as artificial intelligence, 3D printing, or robotics
Representatives from the business and academic environments in Romania (The Association of Businessmen in Romania (AOAR), Politehnica University, and the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies), alongside participants from the OECD Global Forum and representatives of the Ministry of Education, discussed the necessity of relevant digital skills in an increasingly technologically connected world. The importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors was highlighted for democratizing access to quality digital education and anticipating labor market requirements.
Participants expressed favorable opinions regarding the existence of standards certifying the quality of training programs, as an implicit condition for a successful digitization strategy. Moreover, they believed that the general fear of a realistic and rigorous assessment of digital skills, an essential component in achieving and measuring desired outcomes, must be overcome. Discussions, among other things, referenced the ICDL - The Digital Skills Standard program for establishing international benchmarks for certifying digital skills.
"We are honored to receive such a prestigious delegation and to share our experiences in promoting digital skills and innovation in education. Romania is at a crucial point where it must choose between following a clear path based on quality and efficiency standards, or risking isolated, possibly superficial and underperforming interventions that will not lead to the kind of digitization that can make a difference in favor of competitiveness. The visit during the Global Forum confirms the direction of our constant efforts in preparing the future generation of digital professionals." - Irinuca Văduva, General Manager, ECDL Romania."
